Dating Safety TipsMeet in a public place- If you choose to meet someone in person, arrange to meet them at a public location. Choose a well-populated site like a coffee shop or a restaurant that you are familiar with. Be sure to take along your mobile phone. In addition, it’s always a good idea to let someone know where you’ll be.

Go with your instincts- When it comes to dating, think safety first.   If something feels like it’s not quite right, walk away.  You are responsible for your own safety in these situations, it’s vital that you make good decisions that will help keep you safe.

Take it slow- Get to know the person online first, then on the phone. Ask for a photo of the person before you meet. Take your time getting to know this person at your own pace. If something doesn’t feel right, move on.

Protect your identity - Don’t reveal your identity if you’re not confident that the person is worthy of your trust. Use the built in safety measures that online dating can offer to get to know the person first and then reveal information about yourself as you feel comfortable.

Phone before you date - Getting to know someone over the phone gives you the best blend of anonymity, privacy and ‘social presence’ (meaning you still get a good sense of what the other person is like). Remember to use whatever privacy features your phone has to offer in order to keep your number safe.
